Ready to participate in major international events

Export boom for Apulian wine, ready to land in the pavilions of the major events of 2019

With the arrival of the new year, the major international events related to the world of wine begin again. Between fairs and meetings, stock exchanges and salons, operators in the sector meet to get to know each other and make commercial agreements for the near future. In recent years, Italian wine exports have steadily increased, now well exceeding 6 billion euros in turnover.

This is mainly due to the “new” wine-loving countries, in particular Russia and China, and the ever-green European markets, the UK and Germany, as well as the United States.

Italy is currently the largest wine producer in Europe and the largest exporting country together with France. With the difference that compared to French wine, our wine is less branched out on international markets, concentrating in particular in a few countries.

This aspect makes the presence of Italian wine excellences in the places where international buyers and distributors seek and make commercial relationships essential.

In 2017, Puglia recorded a +21.5% in exports, reaching almost 150 million euros in turnover. We are therefore a growing region, but there is still much to do, many hands to shake and many markets to explore.

There are several companies that are driving this boom. Among them is Tenute Girolamo of Martina Franca, which with its Count Giangirolamo, is conquering even the most difficult palates and the most remote markets. The unmistakable design of this wine immediately catches the attention because it recalls the milk of lime and the symbols drawn on the trulli. But it is from inside the bottle that the real amazement comes: the softness of the Primitivo mixes with the rough pleasantness of the Negroamaro, to design, after two years of aging in barrique, a majestic and intriguing wine. Conte Giangirolamo 2015 was recently awarded the title of WineHunter Award Rosso, in an international competition in which the best wines in the world participate.

Tenute Girolamo will obviously be present in the pavilions of the main international events of 2019, starting with Paris (11-13 February) for Wine Paris; followed by: Ice Warsaw (21 February); Borsa Vini Seoul (25 February); Borsa Vini Copenhagen (6 March); ProWein Dusseldorf (17 – 19 March); Vinitaly, Verona (7 – 10 April).

There are many new products that the company from the Itria Valley will present in 2019: a Golden version of Conte Giangirolamo, a limited edition of Primitivo Vendemmia Tardiva and a rosé that will be a real gem.

Wine lovers from all over the world are winking at emerging Apulian producers.

All they have to do is be ready. The future is in our roots!
